Gorilla trekking is one of the most popular activities in east Africa. It is specifically located within the Virunga ranges and no other place in the world. In Uganda, you can trek gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga National Park both found in the south west of Uganda. While tracking, there are various bird species that you should look out for, the vegetation is too thick and definitely harbours a lot of plant life like the various species of flowers, trees, different species of butterflies and a lot more.

The gorillas are not the only animals you will see on this trip, the game drives through the different National parks have a variety of animals awaiting to be explored. These include the African elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, giraffe, lions different species of antelopes like the impalas, kudu, topis, Jackson's Hertbeest to mention but a few. You could by chance also see the tree climbing lions at Ishasha. The trip also includes a stop at the equator and a canoe ride.

Programme for the 4 Days Double Gorilla trekking safari in Bwindi

Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable forest Nationak Park

After an early breakfast, you'll be picked up from your accommodation at 07:00am. After a briefing with our professional tour guide you will set off to Bwindi Impenetrable forest Nationak Park. The first stop over will be at Kayabwe, Mpigi where there is an Equator monument, you will then check it out and have a pictorial moment plus a short experiment on gravity via the equator.

After this short stop, we shall proceed and have lunch en-route in Mbarara and then continue to Bwidi Impenetrable Forest National park, we shall also have chances of seeing the tree climbing lions at Ishasha, other animals include buffaloes, African elaphants, baboons, waterbucks, topis to mention but a few. You will then continue to Bwindi via Kihihi, check in and have some rest for the following day.

Day 2: Gorilla tracking experience

You will be up very early for your breakfast and then head to the park headquarters for a briefing by 07:20am. The briefing will be about the rules and regulations for tracking, they will also tell you what will be done during the whole tracking session. History and biography of that particular group will also be explained.

After your amazing experience of meeting the gentle giants, you will visit the Batwa community for a cultural experience. After the cultural experience you will head back to your accommodation for dinner and rest for the next day. You lunch for this day will be packed for you.

Day 3: Second Gorilla trekking experience

After an early breakfast, you will head to the headquarters of the park like the previous day for a briefing, after your briefing you will head to trek and explore the Gorillas again. After this you will have an awarding ceremony of giving out of certificates for tracking the gentle giants.

Hereafter, you will have a scenic canoe ride on Lake Bunyonyi also known as the Switzerland of Africa, here you get to see more of Uganda's well designed landscapes, rich vegetation that gives the hills a vibrant background and various species of birds that you should look out for. After the canoeing, you'll head back to your accommodation and have dinner then rest for the following day.

Day 4: Transfer back to Kampala or any preferred point of drop off

After your breakfast you will have a game drive as you exit the park and head back to Kampala, also you might have a chance of seeing more tree climbing lions. Your lunch will be en-route and next stop will be your drop off to Kampala, Entebbe airport or any preferred point of drop off.
